CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

ELOISE

A bookworm and a dreamer, Eloise experiences almost as much joy as many of the other characters, but has convinced herself that she does not. Eager for something more exciting in her life she loses her way a little when she takes Raz' help for granted.

Vocal Range Top: E5

Vocal Range Bottom: F#3

RAZZLINE DAZZLINE

An official Helper from Pixieberg with a can-do attitude and a bit of naivety when it comes to our world. Emotionally intelligent and aware of how she is percieved, but unsure why she is percieved that way. The Undertale soundtrack was probably in her Spotify Wrapped.

Vocal Range Top: D5

Vocal Range Bottom: F3 (Bb3)

MILO BARTLEY

The warm, optimistic, librarian and a close friend and mentor of Eloise. He probably keeps a notebook of really niche dad jokes, and would not be out of place teaching Muppets lessons on Sesame Street.

PRINCIPAL STICKET

The Lawful Evil principal of the school. Aggressive but manipulative, and parodying a Wicked Witch at her most absurd. Classy. She's hot and she knows it. Gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss.

SUPERINTENDENT SHOOP

The scatter-brained Superintendent, and Sticket's malleable sidekick. Amazed by literally everything and oblvious to negativity, but earnestly so. Every day is the best day of his life. If this show existed within universe, it would be his favorite musical.

COLBY

Trying his best. Is romantically attracted to books. It's funny in context, I promise.

RAD BRAD

The coolest kid in school. Always in the know. One of the two anchors for MHS Student News.

MAILBOX

RAMONE

MRS. WILBUGG

Full Synopsis

ACT I

Mr. Bartley welcomes the audience to the show and sets the stage at MHS ("We Open (Sesame)"). Eloise, a bookworm, finds her joy in a handful of fantasy books. Mr. Bartley tries to convince her to expand her personal catalog through method of a colorful spinning wheel. Eloise laments how her favorite books- Alice in Wonderland, Narnia, The Wizard of Oz- are all about a girl traveling to a magical world, and Eloise wishes she could go to a magical world as well ("When it Arrives").

Meanwhile, in the magical world of Pixieberg, Razzline "Raz" Dazzline graduates the Pixieberg Reach Out Program and becomes an official helper, but she feels as though her community doesn't have the same confidence in her that she has in herself ("Next Stop"). While on a train to her first Helper destination, the train crashes, transporting Raz into our world.

The principal of MHS, Wilma Sticket, manipulates Superintendent Shoop into giving her permission to ban fiction books from her school. She maniacally uses her authority to keep her students in line ("Why Man Created Rule"). The new book ban upsets Eloise.

On her walk home from school, Eloise runs into Raz, now stranded in our world. Raz quickly agrees to help Eloise and the two go to ask the Superintendent to intervene, but his optimistic aloofness proves to be unhelpful ("Exciting"). Eloise instead asks Raz to use her magic to help stop Sticket, but Raz is reluctant. Mr. Bartley enjoys reading a dictionary ("Phenomenificent").

Eventually, Raz concedes and decides to use her magic to help Eloise, but her spells go wrong creating havoc in the school ("The MHS Contiguous Cacophonous Kerfuffle"). Despite seeing Raz, Sticket chooses to blame Bartley for the Kerfuffle and fires him. The situation now worse, Eloise demands more help from Raz, but Raz decides she should only help the causes she believes in ("Reaching My Hand Out").

ACT II

The students of MHS gossip about the Kerfuffle, and an eavesdropping Sticket and Shoop learn more about Raz and her magic ("In to be Out of This World"). Sticket then attends to Eloise in detention. Following detention, she assembles her evil minions to help capture Raz ("Flight of the PTA").

Raz learns that not everybody wants help from her, and, low in spirit, runs into Eloise who is trying to create a petition to save Mr. Bartley. Eloise agrees to help get Raz home and they figure Mr. Bartley might have some ideas. Mr. Bartley provides some helpful advice ("The World is Only Magic"), and invites the girls to attend his PTA hearing.

Filled with new motivation, Eloise and Raz repair their friendship ("Supernatural"). Meanwhile, a few characters sing a song which it is nearly impossible to provide adequate context for in this summary ("Butt of the Joke".)

In anticipation of Bartley's hearing, Raz gives Eloise one last bout of encouragement ("When it Arrives (Reprise)"). Eloise provides a stunning, musical case in defense of Mr. Bartley ("Be Bizarre!") and Shoop finally stands his ground and fires Sticket. Raz and Eloise say goodbye to each other, and Raz, in the way that Alice and Lucy and Wendy all did, finds her way home.

Books are back in the library, Sticket is gone, and everything seems for the better at the newly named Phenomenifia High. Eloise has expanded her roster of books which she reads. Thinking about the many What Ifs that would've come with her being transported to another world, she realizes her ending is the happy ending ("Neverwonderland").

Content Rating

This show is rated PG13. Content to be aware of includes:

  • Mild language and one use of the F-word ("Fuck pixie dust!").
  • A running gag referencing Fifty Shades of Gray. Nothing sexual is described, but it might leave some confused kids asking their parents what Fifty Shades of Gray is.
  • Students being mean to Colby :(
  • The PTA moms are humorously portrayed as minions doing the evil bidding of Principal Sticket. If you're doing this production at a school, this might upset some actual PTA moms. However, the PTA moms who get upset will likely be the PTA moms most similar to the ones in the show.
